Nick Gonzalez has a post over at Techcrunch on SalesForce entrance into enterprise content management. The first application that SalesForce is releasing is ContentExchange, which allows users to upload documents, tag documents, share them amongst others within the enterprise. Workspaces, versioning support, RSS feeds (based on tag, author, etc), rating, commenting and automated file recommendations are some of the features built in.
ContentExchange will be a hosted solution. Without costing and Microsoft Office integration, its going to be tough to break a hold on Microsoft’s Office SharePoint Server 2007. Competitor to SharePoint, I think not. But smaller ECMs should watch out! What do you think? Does SalesForce’s ContentExchange hold a note to Microsoft’s Symphony called SharePoint 2007?
