   I would like to win “Inside Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0″ or “Inside Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007″. The company I work for has just started to use WSS 3.0 and I am very interested in learning as much as possible. We are considering deploying MOSS next year.

   I just graduated last year from tech school and have just been hired on as a Business Analyst with an IT Consulting Firm. For my own purposes, I am very interested in winning “Inside Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007″ as I will be working with MOSS 2007 at my new job! I believe it would be great reading and definitely help me in my new position :)

   I would love to own “Professional Sharepoint 2007 Development” or “Microsoft Sharepoint: Building Office 2007 Solutions in C# 2005″. The first one is due to the fact that it mainly concentrates on Sharepoint Development and I would love to dive deeper into development. So far I have cobbled together some code from the internet into webparts that will create document libraries and websites from sql server. Also, the only other development book I have is owned by my consulting firm and I would actually love to own some Sharepoint books that I can call my own. The second book I would love to own for the very same reason. I deliberately chose the development books, but honestly I would prefer the first one over the second one, because it is more comprehensive. The .NET User Group in KC was giving away this book and I missed winning by a couple numbers.

   I’d like to win: Microsoft SharePoint: Building Office 2007 Solutions in C# 2005 by Scot Hillier - - Why?? Well there is no training in Durban, South Africa yet for SharePoint 2007 - so a book would really help me tremendously. We just upgraded to SharePoint 2007 and we’re experiencing a lot of resistance. In a company full of developers who want to make their own solutions, i think they would benefit enormously from understanding that using C# they can make their own office solutions in SharePoint. They would have a sense of ownership in the whole process.

   I’d love to get my hands on any or all the books listed above–minus the one I’ve already purchased (I’ve already read Scott Hillier’s book).

   What I plan to do with these books is:

   1) Line them up on my desk in an orderly fashion, numbering them #1 through #5 (or however many books I am blessed with),
   2) Create a SharePoint calendar and make a recurring biweekly event titled “Swap SharePoint book”
   3) Place the first SharePoint book under my pillow,
   4) Absorb information from the book via sleep osmosis. If the books are published in eBook (PDF) format, copy the PDF to a flash drive and keep the flash drive in my pocket at all times (this is called NAND osmosis).
   5) Swap out books from under the pillow every two weeks, as per the schedule set up in #2.

   …I suppose that, instead, I could just read the SharePoint books. Or, read them, and ALSO do the sleep osmosis thing–this would “cover all the bases”, so to speak.

   I would love to win Inside Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 by Patrick Tisseghem and Professional SharePoint 2007 Development by 9 Authors because those seem to be the two most targeted to what I’m doing with Sharepoint. My company is planning to launch a publishing site for the main website in a short timeframe and between myself and another co-worker, we could use the help of these books.

   because I’m going to take the Exam 70-541 TS: Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 - Application Development in august and I really have to pass. If I do, I will be The WSS Man in my company, since no one is at the moment, and for someone that has been working in this company for less than 3 months this certification would be a big plus ;)

    My two picks are:
    - Real World SharePoint 2007: Indispensable Experiences From 16 MOSS and WSS MVPs
    - Throw a dart and whichever book is hit I’ll take it

    I’m one of 2 webmasters tasked with getting MOSS setup for a large school district. Even though I have ASP.net and C# experience, I’ve found that Sharepoint is such a massive beast that it doesn’t matter what I watch, listen, or read, that there is always something else to learn. That is why I’ve allowed the 2nd book to be chosen by chance, because no matter what it is I can definitely use it. I’ve already purchased 2 Sharepoint books (1 admin and 1 programming) and they only scratch the surface on what I need to know to get my job done. If I won, I could loan the other webmaster one of the books while I read the other and then swap!

    In the interest of solid web development, I would like to win “Professional SharePoint 2007 Development” or “Inside Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007″ as a good introduction to this product. I work for the county and we have just recently made the purchase of SP2007 with the hopes of totally revamping the site from its current classic asp mess to a .net 2.0 powerhouse managed with SP2007 . This will be a big step since none of our developers including myself are familiar with SP2007. I feel that if these are the books the professionals are recommending to get a heads-up and this is a contest where I could actually win one of those books, then it is worth a shot. Thanks

    Why should I win? because I hated web! Now its become more intuitive. And Sharepoint its my avenue of creativity. I can see it now. While everyone is build/developing the major app’s, I’l be the little guy who could make the things that they’d say . . . ‘I thought of that, but didn’t have the time.’ Those little things that just make life easier.

    My picks. The first one since Ted Pattison seems like a fantastic teacher and a guide. His Visual Walkhroughs are great a treat…just check them out. I may never get to meet or learn from him, but i presume the book would do.

    And i can not buy these books since they will take a long time to get published here in India.

    And of course nothing like a good free Lunch :-)

    I would have to say Inside Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 by Ted Pattison & Dan Larson. I have used Ted’s website, blog entries and video tutorials several times to work through problems and have found him to be one of the best MOSS sources availiable. A collegue saw him speak at TechEd and, while she was a fan of his before, said that she has found a new respect for him as she found him very approachable when she went to him to ask a question.

    I need a better foothold in Sharepoint, and “Real World SharePoint 2007: Indispensable Experiences” and “Inside Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0″ are the how and the why. Sharepoint is very powerful, and is integrated with every deployed package I’m working with. Both of these books are technically detailed and instructive, and would be a fantastic help when good resources are hard to acquire locally.

    Hello from Canada!

    The ASC is one of the first securities commissions to be adopting the MOSS 2007 product line. and shifting away from a Linux based architecture. We’re replacing a PHP/PostgreSQL solution that was sorely failing the companies needs.

    A MOSS 2007 “out of the box” implementation has gotten us very close to where we want to be, but we still need to write some custom code, and install some custom 3rd parties (Mondosoft Ontolica is great!).

    Since we are a very small developer shop (3 developers, in an IT group less than 10 strong), it would be wonderful to get more resources (books and ebooks/CD-ROMs) that would help us support the MOSS 2007 systems that we’re about to launch.

    I’ve found http://www.sharepointbuzz.com to be one of the more informative web sites on MOSS 2007 as I look for guidance in the SharePoint world. The climb up this huge learning curve has been tought, we’ve been on for the last 3 months, and I know that investors and registrants will be pleased with the results when we launch later this summer.

    I’d be interested in any of the books, but here are the one’s I’d really like to read first:

    1) Microsoft SharePoint: Building Office 2007 Solutions in C# 2005 by Scot Hillier
