With the recent announcement for Microsoft that they are committed to shipping Visual Studio with jQuery to handle their JavaScript needs, it got me thinking.  What are the chances that we will see JQuery integrated into SharePoint vNext.  Cross browser animations for SharePoint vNext menu’s, drop downs, etc?  Primary benefit would  be better cross browser support.  As a bonus to the open source community, Scott Guthrie stated this:

We will distribute the jQuery JavaScript library as-is, and will not be forking or changing the source from the main jQuery branch.

Check out this tutorial by Scott Hanselman, titled jQuery to ship with ASP.NET MVC and Visual Studio.

Besides JQuery integration, what else is new in Visual Studio 2010 then check out this article on MSDN Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4.0 Overview.
